young executive board
The Young Executive Board was created by True Colors as a result of its own desire to reach young adults and the experience it had with the Emory Universitys Spring 2006 Nonprofit Administration Class at the Goizueta School of Business. The students completed a project that included research of the then current demographics of True Colors' audiences and suggestions on ways to reach Generations X and Y. Along the same time, True Colors completed a 3-year strategic plan which included a focus on attracting more young adults to its productions. Anthony Phillips, one of the students on the Emory project and an accomplished marketing specialist, joined the True Colors' Board of Directors and agreed to lead the efforts of the Young Executive Board. The inaugural Young Executive Board members reflected a richly diverse cross-section of Atlanta's young professionals.
The first meeting of the YEB took place in Spring 2007. Activities for the YEB began in May with Play with Pizza at Slice Restaurant during the run of Stick Fly, by Lydia R. Diamond. This was followed by Kickin' it with Kenny at the K2 House during the run of Ceremonies in Dark Old Men, by Lonne Elder. The Young Executive Board ended 2007 in style with a Holiday Party at One Park Place Condominiums just in time for True Colors' production of The Wiz.
Looking ahead!
The YEB plans to sponsor 3 special events each year - one in the Spring, one in the Fall, and one with a flexible time frame that will be designed around a selected production.
