Kevin Ramsey - Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company Atlanta

Kevin Ramsey a native of New Orleans, is an award-winning Broadway veteran and original cast member of
Black and Blue, Five Guys Named Moe, The Life, and David Merrick’s Oh, Kay, which garnered him the Astaire and Theater
World Award for Best Broadway Performance, as well as, Lion King (1st National Tour). Television guest star credits include Cold Case,
24, Saving Grace, The District, The Hughley’s, State of Grace and Charmed. Film credits include Night Falls on Manhattan, Trial by Jury, and Evidence of Humanity. Directorial/Choreography works include award-winning short film “Tap Rap” starring Savion Glover; GM Pontiac “Black History Month” campaign and Prilosec national commercials; and From My Hometown (Off-Broadway). He served as resident guest artist at the Milwaukee Rep and Delaware Theater Company. Blues music historian, Angela Mack remarked, “I see Kevin as picking up the torch where
August Wilson left off”. Writing commissions include Fire on the Bayou, Sam Cooke: Forever Mr. Soul, A Cappella Humana, along with his upcoming collaboration with Pearl Ramsey on “Sirens of Song,” celebrating the evolution of the feminine voice.
Ramsey is a distinguished graduate of New York University, by way of Dillard University. He is pursuing his Master’s degree at The New School in Media Management Studies. Ramsey serves on the faculty of AMDA College and Conservatory for the Performing Arts in LA. He is thrilled to be in Atlanta, and grateful to Kenny Leon and the entire company and supporters of True Colors.
