Regina Marie Williams originated the role of Nina Simone in Four Women at Park Square Theatre. Recently seen as Tillie in Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, Mama in The Bluest Eye at Guthrie Theater, and Deloris in Sister Act at CDT. Other acting credits include performances at Penumbra Theater where she is a company member, Milwaukee Rep, and Syracuse Stages.
Ms. Williams is a recipient of the McKnight Theater Artist Fellowship at the Playwrights’ Center, received a Helen Hayes Nomination for her supporting role in Redshirts at Round House Theater, and an Ivey Award for her portrayal of Mama Nadi in Mixed Blood Theater’s production of Ruined. She is a former member of the Grammy Award-winning Sounds of Blackness, and performs at the world-renown Dakota Jazz Club. She has released three solo CDs and is based in Minneapolis.
