Mash Up: Classical Power
A dynamic meeting of different artistic genres to celebrate unity and family, this performance will bring together singers from The Atlanta Opera and a True Colors spoken word artist for an afternoon unlike any other at West End station!

Spoken Word Artist
Enoch King is a much-adored principal of the True Colors stage. He is an Atlanta native and member of the Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta. His True Colors credits include That Serious He-Man Ball, Fool for Love, The Colored Museum, and Broke-ology. Recent credits include The Light (Horizon Theatre Company), Hold On! (St. Louis Black Rep); Flyin’ West (Indiana Repertory Theatre); Chicken and Biscuits (Dominion Entertainment); Toni Stone (Suzi Bass Award for Outstanding Featured Performer–Alliance Theatre); The Bluest Eye (Synchronicity Theatre); Skeleton Crew, A Raisin in the Sun (American Stage); Paradise Blue (True Colors Theatre), Hands of Color (Synchronicity Theatre- Suzi Bass Award for Best World Premiere) and The Christians (Suzi Bass Award for Best Supporting Actor–Actors Express). His recent Film/TV credits include Bad Boys 4, Atlanta, TILL, and The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey. He is represented by Houghton Talent and Ross Stephens Arts and Entertainment.

Timothy D. Parrott is a multi-Genre, self-trained, musician & actor who has become a presence in the areas of music, theatre, television and film. Some theatre credits include: Congressman John R. Lewis in SELMA The Musical: The Untold Stories (Broadway’s 54 Below), Judas (cover) in Jesus Christ Superstar Gospel (Alliance Theatre), Pa, (Mister cover) in The Color Purple (City Springs Theatre Company), and Black Nativity (Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company). Sammy Davis Jr. in I DREAM (Musical Dramatic Arts, Inc.), The Wiz in The Wiz (Rome City Auditorium), Enoch Snow in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s CAROUSEL (Capitol City Opera), Billy Crocker in Cole Porter’s Anything Goes (Capitol City Opera), a soloist in James Baldwin’s The Amen Corner (Alliance Theatre) and a Player in Bob Fosse & Stephen Schwartz’s PIPPIN (Stage Door Players).

Tim has performed at San Francisco Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, The Atlanta Opera, as a soloist with The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Pops, and he has sung throughout Europe. Television: Jazz Guitarist on Vampire Diaries (CW Network), a Top 10 contestant on Gospel Dream (Gospel Music Channel), recorded studio vocals with Ray Charles, recorded movie-studio soundtrack work for Tyler Perry Studios and most recently, he was engaged to sing for President Joseph R. Biden and President Jimmy Carter’s
100th Birthday (Fox Theatre Atlanta). Tim dedicates this show to his music hero- James Brown aka Soul Brother No.1!

Indra Thomas
Singer
Known for her lush and warm voice, Ms. Thomas has performed at many of the world class opera houses and venues in more than 20 countries around the world, such as the Metropolitan Opera and the Vienna State Opera. She has also performed at prominent venues, such as the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall.
Her movie credits are “The Upside” and the Academy Award-winning film “Driving Miss Daisy.” She was Emmy-nominated for her performance of the “Porgy and Bess Suite” on the New Year’s Eve Broadcast Live from Lincoln Center, Grammy-nominated for her recording of Michael Tippett’s “A Child of Our Time” with the London Symphony Orchestra, and has performed in the multiple award-winning Off- Broadway opera Intimate Apparel.
Her spirituals album “Great Day! Indra Thomas Sings Spirituals” can be streamed on all streaming platforms.
Ms. Thomas is from Atlanta, Georgia. She has a BM from Shorter College and an Artistic Diploma from the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. Valerie Pool
Music Director
Valerie Pool is currently the Choir Master and Organist at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church in Smyrna, Georgia where she directs the choirs and coordinates all aspects of the music program. She is active as a vocal coach and collaborator and serves as a pianist/coach for the Atlanta Opera, where she plays for the Glynn Studio Artist Program and other events. She is the staff accompanist for the Georgia District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont competition and the Atlanta Opera Guild scholarship competition.
Recent engagements include Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah (Harrower Opera Workshop at Georgia State University); a program of German lieder with soprano Wanda Yang Temko (“German Romantics Festival” presented by the Atlanta Symphony and Goethe-Zentrum); and chorus music rehearsals for Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Atlanta Opera.)
Valerie is an alumna of the Atlanta Opera’s studio artist program where she was the resident pianist/coach from 2016-2018. During the summer seasons from 2014-2022, she was a member of the music staff at Cincinnati Opera, and has served as coach, pianist, and répétiteur with Tulsa Opera, Opera Saratoga (New York), Cincinnati Chamber Opera, the Wagner Society of Cincinnati, and Nashville Opera’s Mary Ragland Young Artist Program.
A native of Marietta, Georgia, Valerie completed her Artist Diploma in Opera Coaching at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She holds a master’s degree in Chamber Music and Accompanying from the University of Georgia and a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Kennesaw State University.

Jimmie Howell, Jr.
Drummer
Jimmie Howell Jr has been involved in the music community of the Atlanta area and abroad for over 30 years now. Some of the groups he has performed with include The Atlanta Alliance of the Arts, The Ballethnic Dance Company, various local artists and ministries, musicals and concerts with The Children’s School and Y.E.A. (Youth Ensemble of Atlanta), several music festivals including The Atlanta Jazz Festival. He has been in 2 movies, Greenland and The Color Purple (2023). He currently teaches full-time in The Clayton County Public School District as an Elementary General Music Teacher.
