Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company is pleased to announce our annual play reading series. This is an exciting opportunity to join us for a live reading by professional actors and directors. This Series is free to the public.  Please note the location for each of the play readings below are different.

Starring Jasmine Guy, featuring Margo Moorer, withTonia Jackson and Linda Boston

At Deep Lakes Assisted Living Facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, Allain drops off her mother Delphina who has the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s. When Delphina refuses to stay at the facility, memories of broken dreams, heartbreaking losses, and a family secret come to the surface in a way that may break this mother/daughter bond forever.

This Bitter Earth, written by Harrison David Rivers

Cast: Neil Finley-Darden and Stephen Ruffin

Neil is a handsome, wealthy white man who is a passionate advocate for civil rights. Jesse is an introspective black playwright coming to terms with his own activism. As racial tensions mount with the extrajudicial killings of black men throughout the country, the young couple is forced to contend with the politics of their love. Written poetically by Harrison David Rivers, this timely story is a haunting reminder of the strength it takes to love outloud.
